PHAINAXA MINI BANG

He is among my most exceptional students, yet this often implies that he and I... his teacher... will walk separate paths.

This mini bang is N/SFW and centered around Phainon and Anaxa, by 18+ artists and writers.

About the PHAINAXA Mini Bang

The PHAINAXA Mini Bang is a voluntary fandom challenge event that features the characters Phainon (including Khaslana &/or Flame Reaver) and Anaxa from the game Honkai: Star Rail and is open to any 18+ fic writers and fan artists who wish to participate and will be matched together to collaborate on a fanwork project.Authors will submit initial summaries of their fic while signing up, and artists will claim fics for which they will want to create art once sign-ups close.Fics and artwork may include NSFW and SFW content. Dead Dove topics are permitted. For this Mini Bang, we will require the entire fic be released on the specified posting date, ensuring that all participants release their work simultaneously. All fanworks must feature the PhaiNaxa dynamic (Top Phainon x Bottom Anaxa).Participating as a switch shipper is okay, as long as all the submitted pieces feature the Top Phainon x Bottom Anaxa dynamic only!

What is a Mini Bang?

A “bang” is a fandom event centered around collaborating between a writer and a fan artist, and sometimes a beta reader.Writers and artists sign up with the intention to collaborate in pairs. Writers will submit a pitch idea and the artists will choose their favorite pitches from an anonymous list. Once they are paired with the writers, they will get to illustrate an artwork that complements their chosen fic.The traditional “big” bang typically involved long works (50,000+ word count range) and accompanying artwork. A “mini” bang is smaller in scope. It will only require a 5,000 word count minimum on fics.Writers will be asked to submit a pitch idea. Artists will select at least (3) pitches they are interested in from the claims list and will be matched to a writer.Artists will be asked to provide a minimum of (1) illustrated artwork to accompany their writer’s fic. How detailed the artwork will be is left to artist discretion, but it should approximately match the amount of work writers put into their fic.Beta readers are tasked with looking over written works and polishing them to their best version. Betas are optional and work based on request. This is an unofficial, fan-run event. We have no affiliation with HoyoVerse or Honkai: Star Rail and no profit will be made from this event. Through this event, it is also our hope that everyone will be able to make new friends!

Rules & Guidelines

1. Be kind and courteous. As a collaborative event, you will be working with other Phainaxa fans, and any kind of harassment, bigotry, and general unkindness toward another will not be tolerated. This is intended to be a fun event and we would like to keep it as such!2. Participants are expected to meet check-in deadlines, and reach out to the mods with any anticipated issues. Emergencies do happen! All you need to do is let a mod know in a timely manner and we will work to resolve the concern.3. All fics should be posted to AO3. Art can be embedded in fics, or have links provided to where the art is hosted (i.e. Twitter, Bluesky, Tumblr, etc.) Reach out the mods if you have not used AO3 before and need help with posting. A masterlist will be provided during the posting month that links all submitted fics and artwork on the various platforms.4. Fics and art should be new creations. That is, fics and art should not have already been partially posted elsewhere before the start of the event. WIPs started before the event are allowed, so long as they have not been publicly shared before.5. No AI use is allowed.6. Digital and traditional art mediums are allowed.7. All fics must be in English. If writers wish to post in another language in addition to English, you may do so, but the original submission needs to be posted in English.8. Fics and artworks must be fully completed before the final check-in. Extensions can be given, just speak with a mod first.9. Beta readers, please work kindly with writers. Speak with the writer and ask what is expected in terms of feedback before providing suggestions.10. Contact the mods as soon as possible with any issues, especially in the case of needing to drop out. We understand that things come up, but please don’t leave your fellow creators hanging at the last minute. We will make sure every writer and artist receives a matching piece for their hard work.11. Discretion is expected throughout this event. We ask that writers do not discuss their pitches in public spaces prior to the artist selection, as we want them to choose based on the idea itself. After pairs have been assigned, you may discuss your ideas among fellow event participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any restrictions on who can participate?
You must be 18 years old or older to participate. By submitting a sign-up form, you are verifying that you are 18 years old or older at the time of the event.
Do I have to post to AO3?
Yes. There will be a moderated collection available for writers to use at the time of the posting period. Please ask a mod if you need help posting to AO3.
Is there a maximum word count?
No. There is only a minimum of 5,000 words. For a multi-chaptered fic, you can post the first 5k words during the assigned posting week, and subsequently roll out the rest at your pace. However, the full fic must be completed and cleared by the mods before final check-in.
Can I sign up as an artist and a writer?
Yes, but please consider whether or not you’ll have the time for this. Please don’t push yourself to do more than you can reasonably handle in the time frame.
Can I co-write a piece with another author?
Due to simplicity, we will not allow co-writing. The collaboration will exist between one artist and one writer (and a beta reader, if requested.)
Can I create more than the minimum requirements for art?
Of course! You’ll also be given the option to indicate if you’re interested in creating for more than one fic, if needed.
Are side ships and past ships allowed?
Yes, but the primary focus in the narrative must be on Phainon/Anaxa. Past relationships are okay so long as they take place prior to the narrative. All past ships and side ships should be included in the pitch, so that artists can see the intention of the fic before choosing their claim.
Can I write a poly ship for PhaiNaxa?
No, fanworks should only feature Phainon/Anaxa as the primary relationship.
Can I write an AU fic or is only Canon allowed?
Any type of fic is allowed! Whether that’s AU, canon-compliant, or canon divergence, we welcome all of it.
Can I write genderbend PhaiNaxa?
Genderbending is okay, but no cishet content is allowed.
Can I post in a language other than English?
The fic will need to be posted first in English, but writers may also post in another language afterwards!
What if I sign up and can’t finish my work by the deadline?
If you realize you can’t finish your work, you can drop out with no penalty before the drop deadline. Just message the mods so we’re aware and can make necessary changes. Depending on the situation, we may give an extension or bring in a pinch hitter, or come up with another solution.
How often should I be communicating with my partner?
Once a week is fine, even if it’s just a very brief message to update your partner on your progress. We’re all individuals with lives and busy schedules. Please do not be offended if you do not always receive quick responses from your partner. A mod will be present in the group chat if there are concerns about communication.
Can I join the discord server without participating in the event?
The server is for participants only. Any updates about the process will be added to our social accounts (Twitter, Tumblr, and Bluesky!)
